Trouble on the Bridge, Captain

Happy Dance Friday Peeps!

It's another day here in the world of renovations and just like every project, there's going to be a hiccup or two and we've encountered our hiccup.

Remember I told you the cabinets were being painted and I even took pics as soon as the painters left.  Everything was still very wet.     See below.....

At first glance, you can see they are obviously wet.

Not bad looking and I'm super excited.

Still not bad, loving the color and my bold choice.

Hmmm, those are VERY wet.

And wait.....they painted over all the NEW outlet covers and the one outlet is so completely covered in paint you can't see it.

Oh dear, this may not be good.

Not good at all!

Oh no, no, no!!  My gorgeous hood vent was supposed to be the same color as the island AND have the trim stained.

What you guys can't see is what happened later in the evening when it started drying.   You know I mentioned that they were REALLY wet?  Yeah, that overly wet paint just dripped everywhere.
My neighbor asked if the painter just tossed a bucket of paint at the cabinets.   😂

Not gonna lie, that's what it looked like and it got worse as it dried.
Let's recap, all cabinets, walls, and ceilings were supposed to be painted by the end of the day Thursday.  Friday was electricians and Saturday was countertops.

It's Friday and the electrician is here, installing my gorgeous pendant lights and reinstalling all the outlets.  He was about as thrilled as I was.  Tomorrow the countertop guy will be here as scheduled.  The painting....well now that's another story.

Our ever-calm-as-a-cucumber contractor, Hector, stopped by this morning with a plan.
He's working on getting someone to come out and sand everything and re-prime the cabinets then we will start the painting over.  The lights and ceiling fan that is currently being installed will get covered and then the countertops will get covered so they can straighten this paint mess up.

It's a hiccup and grateful the hiccup was something that could be corrected and won't cause that much of a delay in things.  Disheartening as it may be, it's a small hiccup in the scheme of things and sadly, the painter is probably not going to get much more work.  We gave them Wednesday and Thursday to attempt to correct the mistakes but they painted outside with the wind blowing and near my car.   Let me tell you, when I saw that happening I broke a land record for running.

Then they painted on my front porch and now my kitchen door will have to be repainted on the outside, the porch power washed and we'll need new handles and locks because there is paint overspray everywhere.   It's like they just didn't think and I'm all for second chances but these poor folks just kept striking out every time they got to bat!

Let's talk food since I haven't caught you up but sadly, I have no pics.
Wednesday evening we had Chicken Salad sandwiches and chips again.
I'm guessing we'll have that once a week for the duration of this project.

Thursday evening we went to a new place in town with the neighbors and they're out of town family.

The food was actually very good, and our server was fantastic.  It's a new restaurant and they definitely have some kinks to work out but once they do, I'm sure we'll go back.

It's a busy weekend Peeps, the Kentucky Derby, Cinco de Mayo, so much food to eat and drinks to drink.  Enjoy yourselves and stay tuned for new pics on Monday...but not of the cabinets.  I think we've seen enough of those until they are fixed for sure!

Peace, Love, & Send Painters
