changing it up!

well, I changed the background template on my blog. Of course, I might be the only one reading it so it probably doesn't matter BUT I like the variety. I'm sure there is some rule about not changing the background often but heck, if I get this process figured out then i'm changing it whenever I feel like it. It's a nasty awful rainy day again today outside and inside. My coworkers are grumpy! Anyone out there listening, find a job doing something you enjoy otherwise, you will end up like me..grumpy at work! Time to go look for freebies!

Getting close--- August 18,2009

Well, it's only 2 days until I take my sweet baby boy to college. I have noticed that I tend to cry at the strangest things but fortunately I've managed to not cry in front of him. It's very exciting for him and he's excited and ready to go. He's going to Baylor University, the only college he applied to. It's where he wants to be without a doubt and it's only an hour and a half away from home so that's not bad either. I'll just miss him being home all the time. You know for almost 16 years it was only he and I. We have a very different kind of relationship, I'm still the parent and he's still the kid but we have a bond that is so much stronger than other people. We've been through really good times and really not so good times. He has sat in the floor and cried with me even when he didn't know what was wrong and I've cried with him just because sometimes we all need a good cry. I'll definitely miss him that's for sure!!

I never thought that when his dad bailed on us that things would be alright for us, but you know, God is amazing! He knew all along and while there were times it was hard, we leaned on Him and trusted that He would take care of us and He did. Just like he promises!! I really should let God have control all the time but then again, I wouldn't be me if I didn't try to "help out" and God already knows that I will.

For all you mama's sending your babies to college, hang in there. Their life is going to be very exciting and you've done a good job. Now, we just have to let them show the world what great parents they had. :0)
Blessings!!!

National Ignore Mean People and Liars Day -Aug 12, 2009

well, since some days I think I make more sense than most politicians so I have proclaimed it to be "Ignore Mean People and Liars Day" as I said on Facebook all you meanies and fibbers should be prepared to be ignored. You do not deserve our attention nor do you have the right to make us upset or frustrated or feel like lesser members of society. so there....

Let's see life today seems to involve lots of flu and vomiting. One of my coworkers had to take her son to the doctor yesterday, he has the flu so the whole family got to get Tamiflu. Another coworker was almost at her sitter's house and her daughter proceeded to puke all in the car so they had to turn around and go home. My husband called this morning and my 18 year old stepdaughter is also vomiting everywhere. She was supposed to be doing clinic visits with a neurosurgeon today as she plans to major in neuroscience and go to med school. She watched him do surgery yesterday, hope she doesn't have the flu too!!! My son just has pink eye. Guess those contacts are shot! So far the 14 year old stepdaughter has contracted no illnesses that we know of (she doesn't live with us- but she should, I'm just saying).

Money just seems to fly out the door at a rapid rate now. This weekend we need to purchase 2 bicycles for the college bound kids, a bike rack (gotta get it back and forth somehow), 2 bike locks, several power strips, one mini fridge, one wire over the toilet shelf unit, at least 3 pairs of tennis shoes and various other clothing items required by three teenagers. Not to mention start getting all this college stuff packed up and ready to leave the house in one week. whew...I need a nap already!!!

Anyone got any locations for store coupons and discounts? I'm going to need them bad!
:0)

happy hump day and don't forget IGNORE the meanies and fibbers!

Thursday - Freebies, Freebies, where are you??

well, it's almost time to leave this dungeon of a place called work. The freebies and coupons were sparse today and on top of that my crazy boss was supposed to be at a conferance but showed up this afternoon. I have a feeling there will be confrontation tomorrow when I slip out early for Schlitterbahn. Oh well, he's a wack job and that's about the nicest thing I can say besides when I leave I will have already worked 40 hours this week but he'll still complain. I could go on and on but I won't.

Working on the lease agreement for my house, at least it will cover my mortgage, insurance and taxes and hopefully sometime in the next six months it'll all work out for everyone.

Better run before satan walks in and catches me doing something besides work!

Wednesday-Aug 5 No House Sale

well, so far this morning I've only managed to get a Scope sample kit and a Matrix hair care sample. It's definitely starting out slow in the freebie world but no coupons either. Wednesday's must be rough on everyone, even freebie givers and coupon cutters.

On a much sadder note, my house which has been on the market for 15 months and we thought had sold is back on the market. Don't get me wrong, I feel for the guy trying to buy it because he's losing out too but we've been making two mortgage payments since December and it's getting tough. It looks like we'll end up leasing to this guy for 6 months to see if he can get his issues with the lender worked out and then hopefully close at that time. Mixed feelings about all of this but I'm just trying to listen to my gut and do the right thing for everyone. I hope God remembers that I get confused a lot and need lots of help from Him. :0)

I looked at the calendar and I can't believe in just 15 days my son will be leaving for college. My husband won't believe it either as now he'll have to mow the yard twice a week. Well, I think it's time to get back to work for awhile but maybe I'll have time later to write especially since my life seems to take wild and crazy turns on the spur of the moment and it's early (in teenager terms) so there is plenty of time in the day left for "unexpected events".

Oh, one last thing, there is a guy from Mayfield, Ky on America's got talent. I grew up in Paducah,Ky about 25 minutes away from Mayfield. Vote for him, he's a simple guy who's heart is bigger than his voice!! Genuine people... hard to come by these days.

Happy Hump Day peoples!!!

Tuesday Aug. 4 - Coupon and Freebie Madness

Well, I thought I would blog everyday but apparently life keeps getting in the way. As I mentioned before I've gone nutso over the freebies and coupon sites, now I have taken a friend to the darkside with me. I have her so hooked and I kind of feel bad but then again, it's nice to have a friend who understands the "excitement". I knew I had her Saturday night when I helped her sign up for the free JC Penney tank top giveaway and also the free $10 of free food from Schwan's. It's a shame that Costco doesn't take coupons because DH (dear hubby for those non flylady people) and I went Sunday and spent a small fortune. We are taking about 8 kids to Schlitterbahn this weekend and we had so much junk in our cart that people were beginning to stare at our cart and we were beginning to feel the need to justify to everyone why we were buying all of that stuff!! Anyway, if Costco took coupons I could have saved lots of money!! Hear that Costco, TAKE COUPONS!!!
So Friday we are leaving for New Braunfels to Schlitterbahn with about 8 teenagers and half of those being 18 year old boys. I think now you understand my food purchases a bit more. :0)
We always have a good time on these trips even though we get home so late on Sunday evening and have to work the next day. More on that later this week and now I'm off to freebie and coupon hunt some more as the boss just left for lunch. Hey!! A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do!! Have a great day everyone and if you are Texas like me...try to stay cool, it's another scorcher today!

Monday July 27th- Rainy Gloomy Monday

Well today is the first day of my new blog. I'll be writing about the crazy life my family leads and all the really cool websites I find. My current obsession is coupons. I have a little competition with myself each time I go to the grocery to see if I can outdo the previous grocery trip on savings. Mind you, I'm not a die hard couponer, those women are pros, I just get ecstatic to save 10-15 dollars a trip. I'm fascinated by those women who pay less than $20 for a week's worth of groceries to feed their family of 5. The only thing I can figure is they seriously must not have an 18 year old boy living with them. Speaking of boys, my grocery bill this week will be reduced as my 18 year old boy is off to college for freshman camp. The whole college thing will be coming in future blogs because we are not only sending my son off to college but also my stepdaughter. They will be attending the same PRIVATE college. Come to think of it, maybe I need to become a die hard coupon lady!!

My other current obsession is signing up for freebies. I'm to the point that almost everyday I get something in the mail. It's great I feel like a little kid getting mail. I mean, come on, who doesn't love free stuff? However for those of you who might be concerned I only sign up for the free stuff that I will use and possibly purchase. Like today, someone had some kind of lunch sacks for little kids. I'm sure they were cute and if my kids were in preschool that would be great but I skipped them in hopes that some other mom would have the opportunity to get them and could use them.

I suppose this will do for a first time blog as it's almost time to leave this office and head home for a night out with the hubby then later we'll probably make sure our crops are harvested in FarmTown. If you don't know what it is don't look it up, it's referred to as Facebook crack!! hahaha

God Bless & have a safe and blissful evening!
Samma
