Anyone remember Mulligan Stew.....

These are called Aunt Alexia's No Bake Cookies because my sister used to bake them all the time except somehow she would "mess" them up so they wouldn't set up so she just left them in a bowl and ate them all by herself. Evilness don't you think!

The first signs of bubbling good chocolate heaven!

The goodies to be added, including that peanut butter which is calling my name..............

Ahhh, the finished product. How I wish I could eat one...or two...or ten!!  :0)

I have fond memories of Mulligan Stew from elementary school. I looked forward to the episodes that allowed us to venture over to the school cafeteria and "cook". One of the best was the No Bake Cookies so I've made them today. Never mind the fact that during the baking I remembered they had peanut butter...which I gave up for Lent. Now I'm sad....guess I will just dream of their splendor. Enjoy!

The Sun the Sun....it's out but don't tell anybody or it may hide again!

It's still cold as everything here in Texas but the sun is shining today. You know the kind of sun shining day that makes you wish you had more windows so you could open more blinds. I am smart enough to not be fooled by the sunshine because I know it's really only 30 degrees outside so I will enjoy my sunshine from inside the house.
My son is coming home from college today for an orthodontist appt but he's having dinner with us and that also makes it a sunny day for me. It was just my son and I for 15 years and unless you have a relationship like that with your kids or your parents then I guess it's hard to understand. He's in his second semester at college at he is still wearing his braces. Hopefully the news today will be good and we will get a date to get those off for him. It's hard, I had to wait until I had the money to put them on so they didn't go on until late high school but they told us 18-24 months which meant they would at least be off before college. WRONG!! It was 24 months in October and we still have them. Glad he's a good sport about all of this. I wore my braces for three years and now have the pleasure of knowing that they really need to put them back on...uugghh. I don't think I'll be as good of a sport about it as my son.
Well, I have to clean off my desk area today because the clutter from taxes, FAFSA forms, and coupons has taken over so that I can't stand it any further. Then I'm going to decide what to make for dinner without having to make a trip out of the house. :o) Wish me luck folks and have a delightful day!

Wow....how long has it been

Sooo... we were talking about something or another and I mentioned to my husband about blogs and then I also mentioned I had one. He didn't know and I realized it had been a really long time since I wrote anything. I've been following The Pioneer Woman's Blog quite closely and I guess I'm one of the few that hasn't really seen it before but I love it!! She is so funny and I love her food!! I've made a couple of things and they have been excellent. I even entered one of her photo contests... I didn't win but hey, I tried! It's crazy weather here in Texas. Week before last we got 13 inches of snow and then another dusting this morning. I'm so tired of the mud and rain and snow and cold. I'm gonna move away!!! Someplace warm and cozy and with beautiful blue water...aahhhhh. OK time to wake up and move along.
The freebies lately have been slow unless of course you need diapers, baby food, and childrens toys. I mean seriously are there no freebie and discount hunters that have older children. I have 2 in college and one in high school and quite frankly I need the discounts WAAAY more now than I ever did. Maybe I should try finding teen size discounts and freebies. Speaking of such topics, my lovely stepdaughter who doesn't have a frugal thought in her entire being was in from college this past weekend and said "yeah, I bought some of those it wasn't too bad I had a coupon" Oh my...be still my beating heart. I almost teared up and wanted to hug her and tell her how proud I was but then reality sunk in and I kept my joy to myself. After all I wouldn't want to spoil the moment...I am the stepmom and if I were to endorse it then it would never occur again. :0)
I'm really not a dumb person, I just like to let them all think that I am.
