Captain's Log: Day 3,457

Hi De Ho Peeps!

While day 3,457 is quite the stretch, it has been 37 days, and let me tell you, ya girl is feeling every minute in her soul!

This past two weeks have been a time of noise, dust, and smelly chemicals fun and sometimes not so fun surprises but let's catch you up since we last checked in.   If you reember last Saturday painter #2 worked tirelessly all day prepping cabinets for repair from the disaster painter #1 left us with.   Monday morning Hector and the guys were here to form a plan and start repairing the mess.   It took them 3 days to get those cabinets stripped back down.  This Saturday we will see the repainting process begin.  When the paint stripping was finishing up, Francisco, the tile guy was back to start prepping the floors.  He worked tirelessly today and it's slowly coming along.   Without further ado, let's look at some pics.

This was Saturday evening after Painter #2 worked on the cabinets.

And look how carefully he coverd my beautiful backsplash.
He gave VERY strict orders that no one was to touch his covering.  I mean like he was VERY adamant about that.

Here's hoping my cabinets survive, I'm sure Painter #2 was very unhappy with the mess he was left to clean up.  Inidentally, he has the drawers and cabinet fronts at his home working on those in the evenings since he's working another job during the day.

Oh my, those floors. They should NOT be blue!
Francisco, was not happy about this either.

This is Tuesday evening and you can see the cabinets have been stripped of that gunky blue paint.

There is my gorgeous stove hood....almost back to it's original glory.

Soooo much better!

I'm so much happier with this progress.  Hope is not lost yet.
Some of the pieces had to have stripper left on all night.
What a freaking mess!

There is hope!!
The blue is on the ceiling, I mean seriously, Painter #1 was like a 4 year old with a water hose.

Much improved indeed.

And look, my bathroom floor is free from paint splatters!
My sink is still stained but I'm confident they'll make it look good.

Floors needed rescraped to get all the blue paint off.   Then he had to do a little bit of leveling.
And wouldn't you know we had more unusually humid days and it took that floor forever to set.

There's hope my range hood will be returned to it's intended glory.

The UPS guy came today....there were actually 8 of these boxes.  Each contains a bar stool.
It was pouring rain and I'm sure the UPS guy was cussing me the whole time.  He had to make a few trips.

Hubster got one chair assembled and we double checked how they would look before he starts assembling the remaining seven.  Now they are all piled in Court's room because quite frankly my garage has reached maximum capacity since my range was delivered Monday as well.

And in the world's worst photo contest is today's entry.    Francisco worked until about 645 this evening so I jumped in an snapped a quick pick of the floors.  He's maybe 1/5 the way through but everyone insists he'll be done by Monday.  He's very meticulous and I definitely appreciate that.

I had to make another laundromat trip today and let's just say my gratitude for my washer and dryer is immense!  I am missing my kitchen but I'm really missing my washer and dryer!

Now, some fun news!!  My sweet Abogg hopped on a plane Monday morning to give me a belated Mother's Day surprise.   It was really great having him home and while we didn't do much and had to eat out a lot, it was wonderful to to just hang out with him and catch up.  Tuesday was a gorgeous day so we sat out by the pool and like a good mom, I sent him home on Wednesday with a doozy sunburn.  ðŸ˜²

Tuesday evening we headed out to the ballpark to take in a Rangers game.
I used GameTime for the first time and the process was easy peasy and our seats were excellent.

They didn't win but it was a gorgeous evening and they even had the roof of the stadium open!

Wednesday afternoon had us driving to the airport to send him back to Chi town so he could get ready for his friend TDub to arrive for a visit.   On the way home from the airport my poor Amy Winehouse suffered an incident.

I guess my girl is gonna have to go to "rehab" and get herself a new windshield. Stupid trucks throwing rocks.😡  I said a LOT of bad words when this happened, oops.

Ok, let's go back and recap some dinners and don't be too harsh on us, we've eaten out a LOT the past week.    Sometimes we simply eat out because I'm going stir crazy and need to get outside the encroaching walls because I'm pretty much confined to my dining room all day long.

Let's back up all the way to last Saturday when our amazing neighbors invited us over for ribs and smoked chicken and fixings.  It was delish for sure!!    I'm eternally grateful for all the sweet neighbors who've had us over for home cooked meals during this renovation. Good food and good friends are the best combination.

Sunday:  Mother's Day and a rainy, dreary day and we were out and about and visited Rodeo Goat for a late lunch/early dinner.  Delicious as always!

Monday evening we took the Abogg over to Buffalo Brothers for some pizza and wings.  Also, delicious as usual.

Tuesday:  We headed out to Globe Life Field to take in the Rangers game so nachos and hot dogs were on the menu.  I don't think it's necessary to tell you they were equally delicious!

Wednesday: Hubster and I decided we couldn't eat out and scrounged the refrigerator/freezer and landed on Cheese Quesedillas.   I had three diferent kinds of mexican cheese and a fresh jalapeno straight from the garden.   We used Siete Almond Flour tortillas and had some Mateo's salsa for dipping.

Thursday: After a full afternoon at the laundromat another quick, easy dinner was necessary.
Turkey and cheese sandwiches with mustard, mayo and pickles along side some jalapeno chips.

We had some chocolate chip ice cream while I finished up the Amazing Race finale.

While I'm trying to remain optimistic through this process it sometimes is difficult and frustrating.  How lucky/blessed we are to be able to do this renovation is not lost on me.  So for the remainder of the project, I'm going to add 5 things I'm grateful for.  Sometimes we're all a little guilty of forgetting how good our lives really are.

1) My washer/dryer
2) Clean sheets
3) Visits from your grown child
4) Friends who feed you and let you vent
5) Craftsmen who truly care about doing quality work

That's all for now peeps, hopefully the posts will be coming more frequently and changes aplenty!

Peace, Love, & Paint Stripper
