Happy Tuesday Peeps!!
Well, the painting drama has continued around here. My cool as a cucumber contractor has given these guys every opportunity in the world but they have failed on every level.
I didn't have one of my finer, more gracious moments with the lady (whom I really don't have a clue why she continues to show up every day except to talk non-stop). I'm pretty sure small countries could hire her as a torture administrator, just let her talk nonstop all day everyday and any traitor/spy would give up their secrets. I'm also pretty sure she called me a name in another language so I take it she got my message.
Anywho, these painters have set us back a week and not to mention all the other jobs because they keep having to babysit and replace these people which is causing all their jobs to get delayed.
All in all what I'm trying to tell you is that my cabinets are FUBAR. Google it if you don't know but it's not good. Also, we are getting new painters tomorrow to try and fix the mess these yeehaws made.
So let's focus on the good things shall we?
My pendant lights were installed as well as the new ceiling fan.
They are perfecto!
Then last Saturday, Salvador arrived with the countertops and I'm in LOVE!!!
Thank you for taking this walk of Gilmore Girls memory lane with me and let's get down to the good, the bad, and the horribly ugly.
I give you a look at the new pendant lights first.
I could not be more pleased!
Perfect!
New ceiling fan because, you know, Texas!
I wanted one without a light fixture because we have so many new LED can lights in the ceiling and they're also going to add a dimmer switch to the can lights so I just thought another ceiling light was unnecessary.
Let's just pretend we're all here to look at my new undercounted LED lights and not the disgusting mess on the walls. The walls, the outlets, the floors, the ceiling. You get the picture!
One of my sweet neighbors said, "isn't removing outlet covers on page one of the painters manual". Preach sister, preach!!!
ahh, look a 4th color of hollyhock blooming to distract us from our cabinets
I spy with my little eye, new countertops in the panty!
Yep, there was enough leftover quartz to update my pantry countertops. Now we just need the flooring and some paint and this pantry is ready.
They even fixed my broken lazy susan cabinet when they put them back in.
And speaking of leftover quartz, we had enough to do the laundry room countertop as well. We had to run out and get a new sink and faucet but they new countertop looks smashing, well except the copious amount of dust everywhere. Also, Hubster worked on repainting the laundry room last night, figured it was empty might as well paint. I have to do the cutting in and paint the baseboards and trim but it's painted.
If I was a crafty girl I would know how to make angels singing noise on here because the island!!! People, look at that island!!! It's HUGE!!! 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
It's everything I dreamed it would be!
And we're back to the cabinet disasters. At least the countertops look nice.
Another look at the island because one look is not enough!
And another from an angle and then you remember my gorgeous hood vent back there swimming in the wrong paint color.
So you need to watch the Derby and have a mint julep or three...not that anyone's counting.
Don't you love our paper floors, stunning aren't they?
Just for fun, I snapped a pic of the backsplash tile sitting on the countertop against the blue and eeeekkk, I'm so excited!
They got the sink in place too and cut the holes for the faucet, garbage disposal and my cup washer!!
I can't wait to wash dishes in a real sink and not my bathtub any longer.
So, tomorrow the people whom I trust will return to attempt the repair of the mess of the cabinets. My hood vent is going to be installed as well.
Thursday is plumbing day and we'll see where we are after that. Flooring was supposed to go in starting Thursday afternoon but I think the cabinets have delayed that plan. Stay tuned.
Meanwhile, we did manage to eat out a lot again but we figured that would happen when we started this process. Friday evening Hubster and I went to JD's Hamburgers and it was delish!
Saturday morning was countertop install then about 3 that afternoon we bopped over to the new neighbors house for a Crawfish Boil. YUMMMMMOOOOOO
I ran home just before the Derby started to make myself a mint julep then I realized I wouldn't walk back fast enough to see the race so I hung out with ReggieRoni and screamed at the tv.
We have a friends group text and just for giggles we all pick a horse and cheer that one to victory. I had Fierceness and that didn't end well. However, as the horses were coming out I told everyone in the group " watch Mystic Dan, that's your sleeper horse". I'll be gosh darned if I wasn't right, too bad I didn't have a little wager on that!
Sunday evening rolls around and our amazing neighbors had us over for smoked ribs and fixings. It was very delish as well. I ate good this weekend indeed!
Then Monday rolls around an I feed Hubster this. These sandwiches are pre made from Costco and are quite tasty. How tasty, poor man had to eat them again tonight. I was painting and had a bowl of Fruity Pebbles at 9:30. Win some, lose some!
Well, this saga has gone on far too long so let' hope tomorrow brings happier news!
Peace, Love & Gilmore Girls
I think it all looks beautiful! Except of course, the painting mess! You were far more patient than me with the painters and gave them more chances than I’m afraid I would have! Good thing is that paint SHOULD BE easy to fix! Your island looks fabulous, along with the lights! Hang in there - it’s going to be beautiful once it’s finished!
ReplyDeleteTHAT ISLAND 😍😍😍😍😍😍
